Tires/Brakes/Suspension

First, lets run down the stock sizes:
Fury: 90/90-21 and 200/50-18
Sabre: 90/90-21 and 170/80-15
Stateline and Interstate: 140/80-17 and 170/80-15

What pressure should i run?
Yes, i know the manual and sticker call for a much lower amount than what i recommend, but that doesnt take into account the pressure the tire needs, nor what the tire maker recommends. I run 41 in the front and 40 in the rear. I always balance my vehicle this way, including my car. I get better tire wear and grip. You want LOTS of grip on a bike otherwise when you lean to turn youll just hurt your leg, ego and bike. Im not saying im the sole authority on it, just what i know to work for years and thousands of miles :)

What tires y'all run?
Good brands are Avon, Michelin and Metzler. Mixed reviews about the M brands and the fact that Avon carries a 15,000 mile warranty and ive gotten 20k+ over 6 years out of a front tire with 42psi and very aggressive riding means ill only ever recommend Avon. Avon Cobra AV71 90/90-21 for the front and Cobra AV72 200/55-18 for the rear. The 5% aspect ratio difference is minimal and will make a bit of a difference, but nothing extremely noticeable.

Whats the largest tire i can run...
On the Fury its a 240 without changing rims, but there is no benefit and the width increase to fender fill ratio isnt worth messing with it. The tire needs an 8" wide rim and the Fury is only 6.5". If you need to know the importance of 1.5", ask your wife/girlfriend.
On the other VT models, i do not know, but do know they only have a 15" rear rim and a different swing arm. The Fury swingarm WILL bolt right up allowing you to run stock Fury rims on the rear, but the subfender needs to be modded for the stock 200 tire.
Front tires are only limited to what you can find in that particular diameter AND if the fender fits it. The stock Sabre front rim will fit the Interstate and Stateline with some extra shims needed.

My bike is 8 years old and the tires look ok, should i change them?
YES!
A tire date code is listed on the tire sidewall to indicate a tire's production year. The tire manufacture date is listed at the end of the U.S. Department of Transportation's safety code on the tire sidewall. The date code first lists the week the tire was manufactured and is followed by a number representing the year it was made. For instance, if it's labeled "0301" as shown in the graphic above, that means the tire was mass-produced during the third week of 2001. However, a tire made before 2000 usually features just one digit representing the year, meaning, for example, the number nine could represent either the years 1999 or 1989.

Reading Tire Date Codes

*The code is located on the tire sidewall near the edge of the rim and is part of a long alphanumeric serial number starting with "DOT".
*Date codes are the last three or four digits at the end of the DOT safety code.
*The first one or two digits indicate the week the tire was manufactured.
*The last one or two digits specify the year the tire was produced.

What brake pads should i run?
EBC HH pads, they wont glaze (turn to glass more or less) in the heat, and will stop you in a monsoon. "But i never ride in the rain" Trust me, you will someday. And yes, they are a little noisy, but ill take that over not being able to stop when needed. Also, if you can hear them your pipes arent loud enough. Part numbers are: Front-FA196HH, Rear-FA174HH

Can i lower my rear shock?
On the Fury, take the right side cover off and youll see a knob. Turning it clockwise will raise the bike, turning it the other way will lower it. On the other models, you will need to remove the seat and use spanner wrenches to loosen and then rotate the lock nuts to lower or raise, having the bike off the ground would obviously be better for this.
Alternatively, you can cut one coil out of the spring to lower it further (not recommended) or buy a lowering spring from Low and Mean. If youre over 250lbs or ride 2 up often, i do NOT recommend the lowering spring as the frame sits low enough as it is. the best way IMHO to lower the bike is install air ride, Steve Tyre can start you in the right direction.
