PCV FAQ's
What the hell is a PCV?
Well, its NOT a "positive crankcase ventilation valve". It stands for Power Commander 5, or Roman numeral V. Its the 5th version of DynoJets electronic tuner they develop for many motorized machines like bikes, ATV's and snowmobiles. The Dynatek Fusion is the exact same thing with a different label and usually cheaper pricing.
I get poor performance and some surging at part throttle.
You probably tapped the wrong wire for the TPS or didnt calibrate it. The correct wire is the red with yellow stripe. It is the 2nd one from the front when facing the right side of the bike as shown in the pic below.
Calibration instructions are on the map page.
Dont i need to dyno tune my bike each time i change the intake or exhaust?
No. As the map page says, thats old thinking. The reason EFI motors are different with add on fuel controllers where there is a MAP sensor involved. The MAP sensor keeps track of the incoming air and the PCV/Fusion intercepts the signal to the injectors and applies the tuning map thats been loaded so you reach the targetted AFR. This allows a margin of safety that will compensate for any discrepancy in flow you may see given any particular intake/exhaust setup. Besides, the intake/exhaust used to make the map flowed the maximum amount of air possible short of running with no air filter at all.
How much power will i make?
Well, the increase data is on the map page, but some people dont know how much stock hp there is on a VT1300.
Stock ratings are:
MPG: 45 Miles Per Gallon
Horsepower: 67 HP @4,250 RPM (crank)
56.0 rear wheel HP @4300 RPM
Torque: 78.9 lb/ft TQ @2,250 RPM (crank)
71.6 foot-pounds of TORQUE @3300 RPM
Top Speed governed at 100 MPH
0-60 in 5.4 sec
1/4 mile in 13.88 sec @ 92.58 MPH
So, adding 22% to that equals 12.3hp, 15.75tq
I got a new computer/phone, do i need to reload the PCV?
No. If you unlocked the RevXtend with a custom redline, the PCV retains the info, its not stored in the PC/phone program so it doesnt matter.
Why am i gonna die?
LOL, thats a joke from a fellow who loaded the map and was so impressed that he joked he though he was gonna die (in a good way) and that spawned a poll as to whether or not the maps name should be changed. While you may not actually die, you can be surprised and need to hold on tight till you are used to the extra power. This is not hyperboly, its concern for your actual safety.
